Chairs hold private the secrets of the past and they keep secure our dreams for the future.

Kitchens, dining rooms, offices. We share everyday meals, holiday turkeys and special celebrations. We play cards with friends and we blow out birthday candles. We make bold statements and we fall in love! We pop big questions. By day, we sit in a chair and work as the sun streams through the window, and at night, we sit in the same chair and dream as the moon streams through the same window.

Every vintage chair has witnessed a parade of people, emotions and activity: they have witnessed world-changing events. Chairs are where life happens.

Every chair has a story!

Whatever it is that floats your boat, we can decorate a chair that reflects your passions, your prose, your promise.

Are you a gardener, a doodle-er, book worm or a crazy cat lady?
Do you have a bundle of old love letters or a favorite photo of your pup?

Life’s treasures make delightful design elements, and with inspiration and imagination, they can be artfully translated across a chair frame: colonial, classic, mid-century or modern.

We can decorate a chair that reflects YOU: what you believe, who you love, what makes your spirit soar.

If that all seems a bit extreme, we can decorate a chair that looks…

…SIMPLY FABULOUS!

Of course, there are some chairs that should not be painted!

Luckily, there are a myriad of ways to add a decorative flair and leave the fine wood finish untouched: groovy tassels, fabulous seat cushions, small pillows….

If you think your chair may be a no-paint zone, send some photos and we can talk about it.

In-Person Workshops

There is nothing like being in a room with like-minded chair lovers! The day starts with an already-prepared chair, and the fuzzy idea of A PLAN. All materials are supplied, except any custom elements. (ie: special fabrics or love letters) A planning conversation takes place before the event, so we can make the most of our time together.

Come by yourself and meet new creative people, or bring your friends or co-workers!

If you have a favorite venue for artful workshops, I’d love to know about it!

Workshops can be held in my studio or at a location and time of your choosing.

If you see a chair that you love…

You are in luck! Most of the chairs featured on my IG feed are for sale. I’m happy to send detail photos of the chair that caught your eye.

I also do custom work!

After some good conversation about styles, colors and interests, I get to work! I do a few quick sketches, paint a sample board and assemble fabric swatches. I pop the whole package into the mail and in just a few days, you can see and feel the paints and fabrics, and prop them up in your room! We repeat this process until we get it JUST RIGHT and your little heart sings! (We can use your chair or my chair)

Let’s start a convo.

Do you ever drive through those old historic towns, and wonder…What would it be like to actually LIVE in one of those glorious old buildings?

I can tell you…. It’s FABULOUS!

It’s great fun living and working Right. Smack. In. The. Middle. of a “beautiful and historic downtown”.

My photographer/videographer husband Dave and I are 16 years into a 30-year renovation on a gorgeous turn-of-the-century four-story brick building. We are loving (almost) every minute of it!
